Acara Solutions is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer for our client located in Arcade, NY

• $120k-$150k based on experience
• Direct Placement
• Monday - Friday 8am-5pm (some flexibility)

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified, driven, energetic, hands-on Mechanical Engineer to take responsibility for the design solutions that meet our customers' needs. The successful candidate for this position will be able to take a project from the conceptual stage through to completion, including specification, design, documentation, testing, and presenting proposals to managers and clients.

• This is a mechanical engineering position primarily and inherently includes continuous engineering support of all existing products including BOM Creation, Drawing Creation, Documentation Release, Continuous Improvement, Cost Reduction and Innovation.
• The successful candidate should have knowledge of machine design & mechanical power transmission. 
• Experience with design of weldments and heavy structural design ideal. 
• Must be able to perform and document mechanical calculations, finite element analysis, etc. 
• Under the general direction of the Manager, Engineering, perform all required engineering tasks.
• Ensure the use of proper engineering design principles and contribute to reliable and cost effective product.  
• The assignments have general objectives and include contact with the customer.  
• Directs and coordinates activities involved in fabrication, operation, application, installation, and repair of all products and systems. 

Job Requirements

Required Skills / Qualifications:

• HS Diploma or equivalent plus 8+years of experience as a mechanical engineer including the design & construction of large electromechanical equipment. 
• 8+ years of experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks
• 8+ years of experience in the custom automation industry

Preferred Skills / Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in either mechanical design, mechanical drafting, or mechanical engineering.  
• 5+ years of experience as a mechanical engineer
• Fundamentals of mechanical engineering principles.
• Principles of low cost design and ease of manufacture and assembly.
• Basic analysis of designs, components and subsystems for fit and finish for use, through the proper application of technical theory. 
• Use appropriate design techniques.
• Materials properties to identify/select parts tolerance, finish and fitness for use.
• Understand pertinent electrical and/or mechanical design and drafting standards, and drafting practices as applicable.
• Understand pertinent US and European Standards and Codes, as applicable.
• Understand electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic or mechanical schematics or diagrams as needed.
• Basic understanding of manufacturing and assembly practices.
